It’s not easy to come up with a simple answer when someone asks us what we do. We can say ‘we’re a digital marketing services agency”, but if you’re new to this lingo that might not be so helpful. If we say “we make websites”, that doesn’t really tell the whole story either. But in the end, there seems to be two types of people in the world – those who like to know how the sausage is made and those who don’t. If you’ve gotten this far, then we imagine you’re part of the former group, so read on because this is how we make it.
Strategy
The two things that are most important to the success of any project is getting to know your business and then getting to know the people who you need to connect with – i.e. your audience, users, clientele, friends, members, community or family. Our ability to analyze those different needs and make recommendations to achieve your goals has been what has led to so many successful engagements with our clients. No two projects are the same, but they usually include some combination of content strategy, technical strategy, market positioning, social media strategy and monetization strategy. These can all sound daunting, but we’re sure that you’ve already begun considering many of these issues and are probably looking for a helping hand to sort things out.
Design
Design is one of those services that everyone seems to understand. I guess that’s because most people subscribe to the thinking that “I don’t know what I like, but I know a lot about art”. And we can appreciate that sentiment here at Sudden - but sometimes there is a lot more to design than meets the eye. Of course, good design is subjective, but the structure upon which it is built is not. Digital design for the web, mobile and other platforms depends on a deep understanding of the technologies that enable the experience as well as how the user will interact with that experience. Our approach to user interface (UI) design or UX (user experience) is based on our dedication to simple but effective information architecture (IA) - that, and the fact that we like to use a lot of acronyms.
Technology
We’re not one of those agencies that come up with great ideas and then hope our clients have the resources and abilities to make it happen. Sudden can actually build what we recommend you make. Our specialty is open-source technologies like PHP, Drupal and WordPress, but we also do projects in Java, .NET and others. Our solutions on any given project are based on a deep analysis of our client’s needs, their current technology (if any exists) and their ability to support the proposed technology moving into the future. Beginning in the sales (or pre-engagement) process, we take a close look at our client’s existing infrastructure and staffing, and their needs and limitations as to ongoing publishing. As every client is looking for new, sustainable solutions to content management, video, social media strategy, and gaming (to name a few) that meet their needs but are still within their social media strategy, and budget , we work closely with our clients to make sure the solution matches the scope of their intentions.
Testing & Usability
Getting to know what your audience wants and expects from you can be one of the most challenging parts of the whole digital strategy process. So many times, an organization needs to step back and remind themselves that it’s not just about what your business wants to communicate to your audience, but also what your audience is looking for from your business. You can guess and assume, but nothing takes the place of asking them directly and building your strategy based on those answers. Coming up with the right questions and knowing how best to interpret the results into specific recommendations and actionable strategies is what Sudden does best.
